The Hobart Hound

Written by Ernie. Chief editor, model, taste tester and event ambassador.

What it is

The Hobart Hound is our newspaper. One issue before each market, seven a year, laid out like a proper broadsheet because a list of stalls in an email is a dull way to tell you something good is happening.

Each issue carries who's trading and what they're bringing, what's on at the demo tent, a proper look at one or two of the makers, and whatever Ernie has opinions about that month.

Why we bother

Because a market that appears one Sunday a month and vanishes in between isn't a community, it's a car park with tents.

Most of our stallholders are one or two people making something by hand. They can't buy advertising and they can't get shelf space. The Hound is how they get introduced properly — with room to say what they make and why — to people who actually want to hear it.

It's free, it's not for sale, and we don't run ads in it.
